ISLAMABAD YOUYI-III (Friendship), the Third Joint Exercise between the Special Forces of Pak-China was opened by the Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army, General Khalid Shameem Wynne, in an impressive ceremony held here on Saturday. The 11-day Pak-China Counter-Terrorism Training Exercise will be conducted in three phases between the mixed combat teams of the Special Forces from both sides, said a press release. Lanzhou Land Military Commander PLA, Lieutenant General Wang Guosheng, speaking on the occasion, said that the Joint Exercise would be another feather in the security cooperation field between the two countries. He appreciated the professionalism and success of the Special Forces of Pakistan, in the recent operations, in the fight against terrorism. He lauded the commitment and determination of the Pakistan Armed Forces in eliminating terrorism, in all its forms. He further added that both sides would learn from each others rich experiences, which would be helpful in any future counter terrorism operation. Lieutenant General, Khalid Shameem Wynne, said that the present exercise is a testimony from both sides to defeat extremism and terrorism from the region. Pakistan, he said, greatly values its time-tested ties with the PLA and the people of China. These are a vital ingredient for regional security. He appreciated the high professional standard of the PLA, and termed it the best Army in the world. Earlier, the national anthems of both the countries were played and their flags were hoisted. Display of weapons from both sides was appreciated by all the participants. Senior Military Commander, Brigadier Li Fu Hua, briefed the visitors about the Joint Exercise at the Field Command Post. The ceremony concluded with the slogan of Long Live Pakistan-China Friendship.
