LAHORE Sajjada Nashins of the Sufis have unanimously demanded prompt action by the government for foiling attacks on the mazars of the saints, and they have vowed to start series of masses awareness campaigns across the country besides holding protest rallies. In this regard, a meeting was held here on Saturday at the shrine of Hazrat Mian Mir (RA), which was chaired by Hazrat Baba Fareed Gunj-e-Shakar (RA) Sajjada Nashin Dewan Azmat Said Muhammad Chishti. Sajjada Nashin Hazrat Mian Mir (RA) Pir Syed Haroon Gilani and others were also present on the occasion. Later, while talking to The Nation, Dewan Azmat said the meeting condemned the Data Darbar tragedy, and the attendees were of the considered opinion that an organised agitational movement and masses awareness campaign should be started. The meeting decided that as long as an operation was carried out against the madaris found to be involved in terrorist activities and mazars were provided with proper security, the protest would continue. Dewan Azmat mentioned that call would be given across the country, and a rally would be held at Pakpattan, which would be a gathering of the Sunnis Ulema and their followers from across Pakistan. For this purpose, two committees one for Lahore and second for contacting Ulema and the Mashaikh across Punjab. However, the date for a rally at Pakpattan would be decided later on.
