Almost all the private sector educational institutions are holding their routine classes and especially summer camps in Daska and its surrounding areas in the sizzling hot weather due to the alleged slackness of the district administration. The Punjab School Education Department has already notified the annual academic calendar that includes summer vacation from June 1 to Aug 15. However, the administration remains unable to ensure the provincial government’s notification of starting the summer vacation in Punjab’s educational institutions from June 1. The students are attending their routine classes in their private schools while wearing colourful costumes instead of wearing uniforms in Daska and its surrounding areas.  The owners of some private schools were of the view that they were holding the summer camps with the consent of the parents and they would go to the summer vacation after holding their first term exams at the end of the June 2013. However, several parents complained that there were no proper arrangements of generators, fans and water coolers in the classrooms of the private schools due to which the students are suffering severe heat during the daily hours-long loadshedding of the electricity. The students and teachers of the government educational institutions are enjoying the summer vacation while the students and their teachers in private schools are forced to attend their routine classes. The managements of the private schools were reluctant to announce the summer vacation in their education institutions in Sialkot district. The parents have urged the provincial government to ensure early closer of the private educational institutions for summer vacation in Daska. When contacted, Sialkot DCO Shakeel Ahmed said that the district government would ensure timely summer vacation in all the private schools by launching an operation against the private schools from Monday (today).
