At least six persons including a woman were killed in separate incidents of violence, drowning and mishaps over the past 24 hours.According to detail, in Sheikhupura two youths were drowned in Khanpur Canal, some 14-km away from here on Monday. As per reports, Irfan, a resident of Ferozewala Village was taking bathe along with his other friends in Khanpur Canal. In the meantime he went into deep water and drowned. While another youth namely Imran also drown in the canal when he jumped into water to beat the scorching heat, but disappeared into deep water. The divers started search for the dead bodies of the youth. It is to be noted here that every year such incident occur in frequency, resulting in loss of precious lives but no step could be taken by the local administration to avert recurrence of such incidents. The locals, especially parents of the deceased youth demanded the administration to appoint and deploy guides and divers at canal particularly in hot weather for the safety and security of human life.In SIALKOT, robbers gunned down the owner of a departmental store for offering resistance during a robbery attempt here on Monday morning.According to details, three armed men barged into a departmental store located on Aziz Shaheed Road and started looting cash and other valuables at gunpoint.Meanwhile, store owner Imran attempted to overpower them by exchanging fire with the robbers.Resultantly he sustained a bullet died instantly while a robber was also injured in the cross-fire. The culprits, however, made off with cash and other valuables.The police registered a case against robbers.In HAFIZABAD, a 12-year-old boy of Ahmadpur Chattha drowned in the Lower Chenab Canal near his village. His body has not been recovered yet despite frantic efforts of the village divers and Rescue-1122. According to villagers, Ahmad S/o Muhammad Mansha along with other teenagers were beating the heat in the canal when he was entangled in the whirlpool and was drowned. His dead body has not yet been recovered. Similarly in TOBA TEK SINGH, a PhD was killed in an accident near Chak 367/JB on Gojra-Samundri Road. Dr Shafiq was on the way back to his Chak 344/JB from Samundri when a tractor-trolley collided with his car head-on. As a result he died on the spot.In SARGODHA, a woman committed suicide over a family dispute in the remit of Chal Chakian Police on Monday. Police said that Alam Sher of Kot Khuda Bakhsh quarrelled with his wife Zareena Bibi over some family affairs. She took poisonous pills and died on the way to DHQ Hospital. Police handed over the body to the family.
