ISLAMABAD - The prosecution Tuesday produced additional documents pertaining to findings of the ministry of interior and federal investigation agency (FIA) in high treason case against Pervez Musharraf, former president and army chief.

The three-judge Special Court headed by Justice Faisal Arab is hearing the high treason case against Musharraf for proclamation of emergency in the country on 3rd November 2007.

In the start of the hearing, Prosecutor Mohammad Akram Sheikh informed the bench that in pursuance of the court's orders additional documents, containing four volumes of 838 pages including annexure and statements of five witnesses, have been submitted.

Responding to the court's query, the prosecutor apprised the bench that all the documents have been organised carefully with its copies, saying even marginally relevant record have also been submitted in the instant matter. Defence counsels Faisal Hussain Chaudhry and Shaukat Hayat sought more time from the court in order to examine the additional record of the prosecutor side and also informed that their senior colleague Farogh Naseem was also not present.

The defence counsels also urged the court to allow them for advancing arguments to substantiate their miscellaneous application in the matter relating to designations/ postal addresses of the federal ministers, governors and chief ministers of the provinces on November 3, 2007. Justice Faisal Arab observed that the defendant had sufficient time to get prepared for arguments for the miscellaneous application as the court had given ten days for the purpose.

Meanwhile, disposing of a plea of the prosecution to summon the witnesses of the case the bench ruled whenever the witnesses' presence will be required, the court will summon them accordingly. Issuing directives to the defence counsels to advance arguments on the miscellaneous application from the next hearing, the court adjourned the matter till today (June 4).
