The district police claimed to have busted 9 inter-district gangs and arrested 34 outlaws involved in murder, dacoity, highway robbery and cattle-lifting incidents and recovered stolen goods and illicit arms worth Rs4 million during last month.

DPO Syed Khurram Ali disclosed while talking to the media men here the other day. He said that the district police launched a crackdown on outlaws for eradication of crime from the district.

He said that the police constituted different raiding teams under the supervision of SP (Investigations), which arrested 34 members of 9 gangs in different raids and recovered looted property included three motorcycles, large number of cattle heads, cellphones, cash and gold ornaments worth Rs4 million. The police also recovered large quantity of illicit arms from their procession. Further investigation is under way, he added.

MAN GUNNED DOWN: A man was killed over a petty issue in the limits of Harrappa Police here the other night. Reportedly, Afzal and his two accomplices gunned down Muhammad Adil in Chak 7/11-L. Both parties quarrelled on some petty matter a few days back. However, Afzal nurtured a grudge and he along with his accomplices fired on Muhammad Adil while he was sitting a chowk of his village.

 He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Civil Hospital but he succumbed to injuries on a way. The police have registered a murder case.
