LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the Budget 2014-15 terming it a balanced and pro-poor step of the federal government. Commenting on the budget for the year 2014-15, the CM said that in a very difficult situation when the country’s economy is being revamped, credit goes to the federal government that has framed such a balanced budget which does not burden the poor with taxes rather provides them relief.

He said that it was heartening the federal government has earmarked billions of rupees for the welfare and betterment of the common man. He also welcomed the special package announced in the budget for the textile sector, expressing hope it would go a long way to boost textile exports.

The CM also lauded the allocation of amount for the improvement of education, agriculture, livestock and other social sectors. On the budgetary allocation for energy projects, the CM said, the outlay of huge funds for this sector indicates sincerity of the government to overcome the energy crisis and provide relief to the people.

He also applauded the proposed steps for providing financial assistance to small growers and cattle-raisers. He said overall the budget is very positive and aimed at bettering the living standard and create opportunities for the poor.
