LAHORE - Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafiq has assured that steps will be taken for making newly constructed indoor block of Children Hospital functional at the earliest.

After inspecting newly constructed indoor block of Children Hospital on Tuesday, the adviser said that the recommendation would be submitted to the chief minister for making newly-constructed block functional and a summery would soon be forwarded for releasing funds.

Health Secretary Jawad Rafiq Malik, Health DG Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Additional Development Secretary Mehmood Hasan Gilani, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Institute of Child Health/Children Hospital Dean Prof Masud Sadiq and Medical Director Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore were also present on the occasion.

The health secretary said that the process of purchasing latest medical equipment, worth 450 million rupees, had been started. He said that Rs800m would be required annually after the new block became operational.

Prof Masud Sadiq and Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore gave briefings about the working and development schemes at the Children Hospital. They said that number of beds would increase to 684 after functioning of new block and operation capacity would be enhanced three times.
