ATTOCK  - A post office clerk was shot dead by unknown dacoits when he tried to resist them in the jurisdiction of Pindigheb Police Station on Tuesday. The employees of all the post offices across the district protested over the murder of their colleague and demanded arrest of the killers.

As per details, Hamid and Javed, both employees of Pindigheb Post Office on Monday went to the national bank to draw cash which was to be disbursed among pensioners. Both of them after drawing Rs6 million cash, came out of the bank and were on their way by a motorbike when three armed dacoits intercepted them and tried to snatch the bag containing the cash.

Hamid who was holding the bag resisted and tried to foil the dacoity attempt but the armed dacoits started firing and as a result he got serious injuries. The dacoits took the bag and escaped from the crime scene. Hamid was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.

When employees of the post offices across the Attock and GPO Attock came to know about the killing of their colleague they started peaceful protest and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. They also demanded foolproof security to their colleagues who carry huge amounts to post offices in far flung areas, putting their lives at stake.
