ISLAMABAD - Military top brass on Tuesday took a comprehensive review of operational preparedness, prevalent internal and external security situation of the country including progress of the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb.

“180th Corps Commanders’ Conference chaired by the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at GHQ dwelt at length on various professional matters”, ISPR said in a statement.

It said that the participants also under took a comprehensive review of operational preparedness, prevalent internal and external security situation of the country including progress of ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb.

The commanders were also given briefing about security at the eastern and western borders of Pakistan. The participants expressed their resolve to eradicate extremism and terrorism from the country.

In the 179th Corps Commanders’ conference held last month, participants had comprehensively reviewed internal and external security situation with special focus on the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) in the country.

The NAP was devised following the deadly terrorist attack on the Army Public School Peshawar on December 16 to combat extremism and terrorism without any discrimination.

NAP implementation is being personally supervised by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif through a number of committees including the apex committees set at the provincial level for effective coordinated actions.

The 20 points NAP is underway with full gear to combat extremism and terrorism from the country.
