Washington- Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani has said that Islamabad and Kabul would welcome a slow withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.

Talking to reporters in Washington, he said Pakistan is shouldering a heavier responsibility in its counter terrorism efforts along the Afghan border, amid US troop’s drawdown in neighboring Afghanistan.

Earlier, speaking at a Christian Science Monitor Magazine Breakfast meeting, Ambassador Jilani noted the situation in Afghanistan is still challenging and the decision of withdrawal of US troops should be taken in view of ground realities in Afghanistan.

He said efforts should be made, not to create any space for any militant activity to increase.
