The 14th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 14), is scheduled to be held 17-22 July 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya. The UNCTAD will provide a timely opportunity for the global community to assess the changes in economic policy needed at all levels to deliver on the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda - and other key global commitments made in 2015.

In this country, we have flawed economic policies and priorities and vision and mission less economic managers. Neither they learn from such august gathering nor even do they frame market-oriented and long term economic policies. The Ministry of Commerce appoints Economic Ministers/ Trade and Commerce Officers in different embassies and high commissions around the globe but what these highly paid and facilitated officers offer and deliver, what new markets they explore for the Pakistani products and what input and wisdom they share to the Ministry of Commerce to achieve the given target, it is only the ministry which can tell the half or the whole truth.

Pakistan today has a miserable socioeconomic welfare situation and our economic managers who will participate in the said conference will definitely advocate fatally flawed economic policies and cosmetic measures.
