Rawalpindi - Police busted a gang of street criminals by nabbing five of its members, including the ring leader.

A court of law sent the five accused to Adiala Jail for identification parade yesterday.

According to Sub-Inspector Amman Ullah, who is posted at Police Station Waris Khan, police recovered weapons from the accused. He said that nine members of the gang are still at large and police are conducting raids to arrest them.

While sharing the style of dacoity of the detainees, the SI said that they usually targeted women and girls in streets by snatching their jewellery. “The dacoits used cutter to cut the bangles, bracelets and other ornaments,” he said. During the investigation, the accused confessed their involvement in a large numbers of dacoities at gunpoint.

Those who were sent to jail were identified as Tariq (ring leader), Rana Nasir Ali, Muhammad Kalim, Tanvir Khan and Haroon.
