Rawalpindi - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has stressed the need for providing training to the security guards of private companies.

“Most of the guards are untrained and even do not know how to fire a gun. During past bank robberies, many of the security guards did not show resistance,” he said during a meeting held in his office yesterday to review the security of banks in the city.

The meeting was attended by City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, SSP Operations Karamat Ullah Malik and chief security officers of the banks.

Addressing the meeting, RPO Wisal Fakhar said that most of the security guards of private companies are untrained and having no knowledge how to fire a gun in critical situation. He said that no security guard put resistance in past bank robberies. He asked the private security companies to hire retired army security guards from any good company after verification. “The security guards of the banks should be as per SOP issued by Punjab government and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera to tackle the crunch moments,” the RPO added.

He also directed police to adopt a comprehensive mechanism of checking the bank security, besides devising security plan to crush the criminals. “The banks sans security guards will be sealed,” Wisal said.

He asked the CSOs of the banks to depute well-trained and equipped four security guards in every bank and fix CCTV cameras to monitor the activities of suspected elements.

He also advised the CSOs to place a healthy and trained security guard at vintage point to cope with any danger.
