Islamabad:  Security has been beefed up in the twin cities after the army chief signed death warrants of 11 high profile terrorists, convicted by a military court. 

A police source told The Nation that intelligence agencies have issued security alerts for the twin cities . Terrorists could carry out subversive activities in Red Zone and in a five star hotel in the wake of the death warrants of 11 terrorists, who were convicted for the involvement in attacks on military conveys, ransom and other heinous crimes.

The source further said that terrorists’ accomplices could target educational institutions, including Quaid Azam University, Allama Iqbal Open University, NUST and NDU while in Rawalpindi they could target Fauji Tower, Arid Agriculture University etc to avenge the convictions.

After the security alerts, the local administrations have beefed up security in the twin cities and deployed additional forces Rangers and police.  The sources further claimed that security of the AIOU has been beefed up with deployment of Rangers personnel while entrance and exit gates of university were closed partially.
