MULTAN - Lawyers of the district and High Court Bar associations held protest and boycotted court proceedings on Monday against the demolition of lawyers chambers in Jampur. It is to be noted that the lawyers' chambers in Jampur were razed to ground by the district government as part of anti-encroachment drive.

On the call of the Punjab Bar Council, the lawyers' community both in the lower and high courts held strike against the demolition by the authority concerned.

Protesting lawyers also waved black flag on the buildings of district and High Court bars.

A meeting of lawyers' leaders was also held during which the lawyers condemned the demolishing of chambers of their colleagues on the order of Assistant Commissioner who undoubtedly violated rules and regulations of the state.

They also appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for action against the officials involved in the demolition of lawyers chambers; otherwise, they would expand their protest to the provincial level. Due to strike, hearing of hundreds of cases was not possible and clients had to suffer.
