LAHORE - The government departments will take anti-dengue steps on war-footing basis and performance report will be sent to the chief minister on daily basis. September 7, will be observed as ‘Cleanliness Day’ and sweeping will be carried out to remove dengue breeding spots.  Decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq and Additional Chief Secretary Aamir Sohail at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday. Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik, Secretaries of all concerned departments, DG Health Punjab Dr Zahid Pervez, Dean Institute of Public Health Prof Moaz Ahmed, Epidemiologist Prof Farkhanda Kokub, DG PITB, Aamir Chaudhary, DCO Lahore Muhammad Usman and other officers attended the meeting.

The health secretary apprised the meeting regarding the present dengue situation in Punjab. The meeting reviewed the performance and steps taken by the various departments for dengue control.

The additional chief secretary directed that SOPs of the dengue control should be sent to all the government departments.  He directed arranging seminar at schools, colleges and other institutions for creating awareness.

He said that community workers, civil society should be taken on board.

It was decided that City District Government would display banners, flaxes for the awareness of people, advertisements in print and electronic media.

Aamir Sohail said that September is a crucial month due to the heavy rains forecast. Therefore, all the departments have to discharge their duties more efficiently, he added.
