KARACHI – At least six more people were killed in separate incidents of targeted killings and other acts of violence in the metropolis on Saturday.

A supporter of the Lyari notorious gangster group of slain Rehman Dacoit was gunned down in an act of targeted killing in Magsi Mohalla in Jahanabad area of Pak Colony. The deceased was identified as Jauhar Magsi, son of Sher Mohammad.

The area where the incident took place was once dominated area of notorious Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu.

Tension prevailed in Jahanabad and its surrounding areas and the heirs of the victims suspected involvement of the Arshad Pappu group. A heavy contingent of law enforcers reached the site to avoid any untoward incident.

A score of victim’s relatives also staged a protest and demanded the arrest of the culprits behind the incident.

Police said that unidentified armed men shot and injured the victim near his home, adding that he was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police said that the deceased belonged to the Magsi tribe and police were trying to ascertain the involvement of the Pappu group as the family has also claimed Pappu group’s involvement. No case was registered till filing of this report.

A security guard Khurram was gunned down and a salesman, namely Raheel was injured when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate firing at a sanitary shop at the sanitary market in Gulbahar area.

The incident caused panic and anger among the market’s traders and shopkeepers who shut their shops and staged a protest against the incident.

The protestors claimed that the extortionist group is behind the incident as the shop owner was getting threats from the extortionist group over refusal of payment of extortion money.

Police said that they were gathering details about the incident and trying to ascertain the actual motive behind the incident.

A thirty-eight-year-old Manzur alias Sunny, son of Khushal Khan was shot dead and another Zakir, 14, was injured when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate firing at a plastic shop-cum-godown in Mansehra Colony within the precincts of Landhi police station.

Police officials said that the victims belonged to the drug mafia and their rivalry group known as Faqira group was behind the incident. The dead and injured were moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and treatment.

A rickshaw driver identified as 36-year-old Gullu Baloch, son of Ghulam Qadir Baloch was killed when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle opened firing at him in Sector 15-A within the jurisdiction of Taimuria police station.

Police officials said that deceased was a resident of Din Omar Baloch Goth in North Nazimabad and the initial investigation suggests that he was killed over personal enmity. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later handed over to his family after medico-legal formalities.

The bodies of the two men were found separately. One 35-year-old man’s body was found from Bheem Pura within the limits of Napier police station. Police officials said that the deceased was killed after kidnapping while the body was moved to morgue Sohrab Goth for identification. Another body of a man was found from the cattle farm in Behns Colony within the remits of Sukkan police station.

Police officials said that the motive behind the incident would be clear after the identification. However, two suspects identified as Abdul Majeed aka Raja and Najeebullah were apprehended along with two TT pistols.

According to Special Investigation Unit, the suspects were involved in the target killing of SIU informer namely Javed in Nazimabad area while they were also wanted to police in several cases of crime.
