PML-N Gojra leader Mian Islam has alleged that corruption continued unabated in the government departments especially in Tehsil Municipal Administration.

Talking to reporters, he claimed that contracts of development projects were being awarded to the blue-eyed persons by the TMA officials without inviting tenders. He said that an estimate was made for the construction of Painsara Road and tenders were to be opened on August 4 but the officials unofficialy awarded the contract to a favourite contractor who had already started the construction.

He complained that the party workers had been disappointed. He demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should take notice of his complaint.

Meanwhile, Punjab PML-N’s board members for upcoming local government elections MNA Mahmood Bashir and MPA Sarfraz held a meeting with PML-N parliamentarians and party office-bearers in Civil Rest House. They asked them to shrink their differences for the party interest. Those attended the meeting included MNAs Junaid Anwaar, Khalid Warraich and MPAs Amjad Javed, Mian Rafiq, Qadeer Awan and Ayub Gadhi.

ROOF COLLAPSES: Due to 48-hour intermittent rain in Kamalia, the roof of a house fell in Bahlol Wala locality as a result a woman and her two minor children were wounded. The area people rescued them who later were admitted to Kamalia THQ Hospital.

BUILDINGS SEALED: Gojra TMA Inspector Salam Khan sealed on Monday 11 buildings that had been declared as dangerous. The sealed properties included 10 shops located in Bansanwala Bazaar and an abandoned Sikh temple in the same bazaar. He sealed a shopping market on Moongi Road as its building was built without getting approval from TMA.

Flood-fighting preparedness reviewed: In view of the expected flood in River Ravi, eight flood relief camps will be set up in Pirmahal and Kamalia tehsils for which six sectors have been formed.

This was informed to the participants of flood emergency plan meeting held here with Provincial Parliamentary Secretary Raja Awais Kiani, the other day.

It was stated that Rescue 1122 will have three motor boats in Kamalia and one in Pirmahal for rescue while fodder had been arranged for hundreds of cattle for two weeks.

A livestock and dairy development official informed the meeting that vaccination of animals against various diseases was underway in the expected flood area and so far 80 percent vaccination had been completed.

The meeting was informed that the district government had 350 tent houses in its stock for both tehsils. AD Collector Zeshan Shabbir Rana, DO Emergency Mian Faraz Munir, Agriculture and Health EDOs Shahzad Sabir and Dr Nawaz Ranjha and DO Social Welfare Mian Zahid were also present in the briefing.
