Multan - A man unleashed his dog on a dengue surveillance team when they found dengue larva in his house here on LMQ Road on Thursday. The dog mauled the dengue team member Nadia while another member Kausar also sustained injuries when she rushed to save herself from the dog. DCO Nadir Chattha took notice of the incident and directed the police to take action against the home owner. The dengue surveillance team was on a routine survey to track down dengue larva near High Court area.

 The team found larva at a house on which the owner of the house got furious and unleashed his dog on the team.

Police arrest four extortionists

rawalpindi - Police have arrested four extortionists, who had demanded Rs3 million extortion from a trader, and later launched armed attack on his house in order to pressurise him to pay the amount.

Police also busted two dacoit gangs during action, SSP Operations Irfan Tariq stated this during a press briefing held at the CPO Office yesterday. SSP was flanked by DSP New Town Circle Raja Taifoor and SHO PS Sadiqabad Mustafa Kamal Niazi.

According to SSP (Operations) Irfan Tariq, police lodged a case on complaint of Syed Ishtiaq Hussain against four extortionists. He said that a special team was formed on orders of CPO which carried out a raid on a hotel located in Saddar and arrested four extortionists and shifted them to police station for further investigation.

The four extortionists were identified as Naqash Masih, Muhammad Faizan and Shan Shehzad of Rawalpindi and Imran alias Mani hails from Karachi, SSP said.

He said that the extortionists had demanded extortion from a trader Ishtiaq Shah and also resorted to aerial firing outside his house to scare the trader’s family. Police also recovered weapons from extortionists. The accused would be presented before a court of law for physical remand, he said.

Land dispute claims 3 lives

HAFIZABAD - Three landlords of the same family were gunned down by their close relatives over old enmity here in Parr Massu on Thursday.

According to police, Dilawar Hussain and Nasir Hussain had a dispute with their cousins – Iftikhar Bhatti and others over the possession of land since long. Yesterday, they exchanged harsh words over the issue.

However, in the night when Dilawar, Nasir and their nephew Muhammad Azam were asleep in their house, accused Iftikhar Bhatti along with his accomplices scaled walls of the house and killed all the three on the spot. The Sukheke Police shifted the dead bodies to for autopsy and started investigation into the case.
