KHYBER AGENCY - Students hailing from Bacha Mena, Torkham were barred to attend their colleges in Landi Kotal by the Frontier Corp (FC) troops at Shaheed Mor (curve) in the name of security measures, parents regretted.

They said that the FC soldiers at the post did not permit scores of college students to cross it besides having college identity cards, domicile and national identity card of their fathers.

Rahim Gul, resident of Bacha Mena said that he along with his son was on way to Landi Kotal to seek admission in 1st year in local college, but the FC soldiers at Shaheed Mor did not let his son to cross on pretext of lacking identity card.

“The age of my son is less than 18 years and cannot get ID card but the FC personnel insisted of producing it,” he lamented.

The local tribesmen argued that checking system has been initiated to halt illegal entry of Afghan nationals, but ironically the FC force applied it equally on the residents of Bacha Mena that was step motherly behaviour towards them.

The grievance was referred to administration, Torkham and on personal guarantee of Naib Tehsildar Torkham, the students were permitted to go to their colleges, however, the tribal demanded of the forces authority for permanent solution of the issue.

When the forces official was contacted on the matter he said that it would be resolved and relief would be provided to the local students.
