SADIQABAD - The Newly-appointed office-bearers of the District Bar Association of Rahim Yar Khan took oath of their respective offices. District and Sessions Judge Iftikhar Ahmad Khan administered the oath.

Addressing the oath taking ceremony, the judge said that the Bench and the Bar were two wheels of a car which was taking passengers to their destinations. He added that all the judges in the district were taking judicial verdicts on merit. He assured that participants that if any lawyer was facing hardships regarding provision of justice, he could contact him (D&SJ). He said that the purpose of the existence of the Bar and the Bench is to provide justice for the litigants.  Regarding bail pleas, the district and sessions judge said that from now accused could get interim bail with only presenting guarantor in the court in the absence of bail money. But, he added, for the bail confirmation, the accused has/have to present both bail money and guarantor in the court.

Liquor seized, vintners peddlers flee: Police seized eight litres of indigenous liquor from two vintners who managed to escape here the other day.

A police team led by sub-inspector Muhammad Musa Khan was on a routine patrol when it got a tip-off that two bootleggers - Nazar, son of Dara and Yousaf, son of Gulzar, residents of Chak 21/1-A-L, were preparing to sell their liquor at some point near the Shergarh Police Station.

 The policy party raided the spot and seized 8 litres of liquor from the accused who managed to flee the scene. The police have registered a case.
