SIALKOT - The Gujranwala regional police officer has said that the mutual cooperation between police and public is vital for bridging the gap between them so as to ensure peace.

Ahmad Mubarak said that the police should go ahead with the friendly hands towards the public for ensuring justice to the poor, needy and oppressed people at their doorsteps through the early implementation on the merit policy. He stated this while addressing a meeting of police officials here. The RPO said that an all-out effort were being made for changing the decades-old police culture but there would be no visible change in this regard within the months, however, there would some certain changes in the police aptitude and police culture with the passage of the time, as the active public cooperation is vital for this purpose.

He said, “We will adopt all the positive steps for restoring the confidence of the public towards police, besides, ensuring early implementation on various police-public friendly policies & proposals and this step will be helpful in developing the healthy relationship and mutual confidence between police and public.” He said that all the police stations would be made the model police stations, declaring the adoption of good moral ethics and police code of conduct.

He said that there was no doubt that the good aptitude of police towards the justice seeking people could be helpful in minimising the tension of the oppressed people. He said that under the present scenario of the society the early restoration of public confidence on police is needed for promoting the good policing.

He admitted that there were several flaws in police services but it was time now to remove these flaws with the active cooperation of the masses, besides, minimising the distances between the public and police through enhancing the professional capabilities of the police force, as the changing of police aptitude, is the need of the hour for restoration public confidence.
