PESHAWAR – Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao, Chairman, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that friendly relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan is vital for peace and prosperity in the region. He underlined the need for removing all bottlenecks between the two brotherly states so as to further strengthen their ties.

He said this while talking to Afghan Consul-General, Sayed Mohammad Ebrahimkhel who called on him in Peshawar. They discussed matters relating to mutual interests of both the countries.

Aftab Sherpao said a good working relationship between the two states was the need of the hour, therefore every effort should be made to remove all misgivings.

About the recent visit of Pakistan Foreign Minister to Afghanistan, Sherpao said that all issues should be addressed through concerted efforts, as it would pave the way for durable peace in the region.

He termed the President Karzai’s visit to Pakistan a good omen and said that it would bring both brethren countries closer to each other.

He also underlined the need for holding tripartite meeting to review the situation and chalk out future line of action.

He stressed need for exchange of prisoners between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also underscored removal of hindrances in Afghan transit trade and increase in seats for Afghan scholars in Pakistani institutions. He said that parliamentary and civil societies should play their role for strengthening the ties by developing constituencies in both countries.
