WASHINGTON - Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Sherry Rehman hosted Mehfil-i-Milad in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi at the Embassy.

Pakistani-American women, wives of diplomats from the Muslim countries and officials attended the Mefil-i-Milad. The Ambassador laid stress on following Sunnah, saying that the life and teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) provide enlightened guidance on fostering tolerance, mutual understanding and peace in the society. She said values of integrity, morality and justice as taught by Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) have been a source of inspiration and guidance. She particularly cited Islam’s message of peace and equality. She said Islam has been unique in urging rights and high degree of respect for women. Islam stands for protection of the vulnerable segments of a society, protection and rights of minorities and women, she said.
