ISLAMABAD - Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim Saturday said that the Standing Committee on Commerce would be taken into confidence before announcement of new trade policy. In a statement issued here, the minister said the committee was apprised of all major developments regarding the formulation of trade policy through briefings and presentations. He said that it happened for the first time that all senior officers of the ministry along with secretary commerce visited all chambers and important associations and held a series of meetings, including the special meeting with Lahore Chamber on June 06 last. The minister himself attended meetings with members of chambers and associations, and participated in detailed consultation processes. The Lahore Chamber has forwarded 8 proposals and all of them are being processed for the upcoming trade policy. If the Chamber has any other observation or suggestion for the trade policy, it may communicate the same to the ministry.
