ISLAMABAD - Capital police have busted a 7-member inter- provincial gang after an encounter near Darbar Pir Sohawa and recovered 5 pistols along with ammunition. The accused are involved in different incidents of robberies. According to police the gang has been active in the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town and Koral areas and was committing burglaries. Taking notice of these incidents of robberies, Inspector General of Police Syed Kaleem Imam, DIG Operations Bini Ameen, directed the SSP Tahir Alam Khan and SP Investigation Saqib Sultan for early arrest of gang members. They assigned the task to DSP/CIA who deputed a team comprising Inspector Sarfraz Ahmad and ASI Asif Shah with police personnel to unearth the gang activities. In the wee hours Saturday, when police were busy in stop and search operation near Darbar of Pir Sohawa, the criminals opened fire at them and the law enforcement agencies had to retaliate the fire. After a few minutes encounter, Police succeeded in arresting the accused. They were identified as Sartaj, Hazrat Saeed, Hamid Gul, Naseer Hashmi, Samar Gul, Umar Ali. On their body search, 5 loaded pistols were recovered from their possession. During interrogation, they confessed 18 dacoities in the area of Police Station Shahzad Town and Koral. One accused Hazrat Saeed is a very highly wanted to Shahzad Town Police in 6 cases of murder and dacoities. Further investigation was underway from them. Online adds - Rawalpindi Police have arrested 100 suspects from jurisdiction of Airport and Westridge police stations on Saturday. In order to ensure foolproof security in Rawalpindi, large contingent of police led by Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Operation carried out a house to house search operation in areas of Airport and Westridge police stations and arrested 100 suspects, including 30 Afghan nationals. 45 suspects were arrested from Rehmatabad, Gulzar-e-Quaid and Dhok Hafiz areas of Airport Police jurisdiction while 55 suspects were arrested from Misreal Road and Dhok Gujar area of Westridge Police Station.
