ISLAMABAD (Online) - Major General Ashfaq Nadeem has been appointed incharge Swat operation in place of General Officer Commanding Maj Gen Ijaz Awan. According to military sources, this change of command is routine, as Maj Gen Ijaz Awan has completed his three-year tenure as GOC and now he would be given a new post. Ashfaq Nadeem, who had recently been promoted to this rank would assume the charge as incharge Swat operation. According to the sources, Chief of the Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has approved the new appointment and this replacement is part of routine Army transfers. Meanwhile, 20 Major Generals of the Pakistan Army have also been reshuffled. According to military sources, in the recent promotion board meeting that was chaired by COAS Kayani, promoted 25 Brigadiers to Maj General rank but they were not given new postings until now. 16 Maj Generals out of 20 have assumed their new postings while the remaining four would assume their new responsibilities on August 14. The posting of new Swat in charge operation Ashfaq Nadeem is also part of this process. Only those Major Generals have been reshuffled who have completed their three years terms in one place.
