PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information and Transport, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has declared that display of arms of any type is strictly prohibited on the premises of Peshawar Bus Terminal (PBT) and the violators would be sternly punished.

He added that before entering PBT, everyone should have to deposit his arms with the authorities concerned of PBT. This he stated while chairing a meeting regarding the Transport Department at Peshawar on Monday, which also discussed the affairs of PBT in detail.

The meeting besides the Secretary Transport, was also attended by the authorities concerned of the Transport Department.

The Minister on this occasion was informed that the scrutiny of the applications of security guards for PBT was completed and the appointment orders of 30 Security Guards would be issued within a week.  The Transport Minister strictly warned the high-ups of the Transport Department to immediately remove the illegal shades and other encroachments within the limits of PBT and accept no pressure in this respect.

No owner of the bay in PBT would be allowed to keep more than two Hackers/ Munshis and if violated, indiscriminate action would be taken, he furthered.  Mian Iftikhar directed the authorities concerned to convene a meeting of the owners of the bays of PBT and apprised them of the govt decisions for ensiring full implementation on the said directives.

He vowed that the Transport Department would be made transport - friendly department in real sense and for this purpose, its scattered powers were being gradually attained from various departments and institutions.  He added in future all the matters relating to transport sector would be linked with the NOC of the Transport Department therefore, all the departments/ institutions were directed to take NOC from Transport Department before initiating any work relating to transport sector.
