KARACHI Taliban supreme leader Mullah Omars son-in-law and 7th senior member of Taliban Shura was arrested during a raid in Ahsanabad area here on Thursday. Sources in law-enforcement agencies revealed that Motasim Agha Jan was usually accompanied by other accomplices but at the time of the raid he was alone. The sources pointed out that Agha Jan had served on various key posts of Taliban Shura while they were in power in Afghanistan. He also served as incharge of political affairs of the Taliban. It is pertinent to mention here that the arrest of Agha Jan was the third major breakthrough of law-enforcement agencies in a last couple of weeks. The first major achievement of the agencies was the arrest of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, considered as a deputy of Mullah Omar in the Taliban hierarchy from Nooriabad, Karachi along with three other top ranking al Qaeda members. The second biggest achievement of law enforcement agencies appeared after a week of Baradars arrest when Syed Tayyab Agha, the former spokesman of Mullah Umar was arrested from Saeedabad, area of Karachi. The arrest of Agha Jan within a week of the arrest of Tayyab Agha is the third major successful operation of the security forces. Mullah Abdul Salam and Mullah Mir Muhammad, the Taliban 'shadow Governors for the northern Kunduz and Baghlan provinces respectively, were also nabbed in Nowshera district. Meanwhile, Crime Investigation Department (CID) Sindh police also arrested a Qazi of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in a raid conducted within the limits of Surjani Police Station. According to the details, the CID team led by SSP Fayyaz Khan raided the hideout of Alam Mehsud in Surjani town area and arrested him. SP CID said that the accused was a close aide of the slain TTP chief Baitullah Mehsud and he was Qazi of the Sararogha area South Waziristan and was also involved in militancy.
