ISLAMABAD - Sacked OGDCL Management Trainee Officers while protesting against the delay in their reinstatement on Thursday threatened self-immolation in front of the National Press Club today (Friday), if the OGDCL administration under the Presidential Ordinance 2009 did not issue notification of their restoration immediately. Chairman, All Pakistan OGDCL Management Trainee Officers Action Committee, Saeed Ahmed Memon addressing the protest gathering of sacked employees, said if the OGDCL administration used dallying tactics for the reinstatement they would immolate themselves in front of the NPC today and the administration would stand responsible for all that. He said that the OGDCL administration defied the incumbent Government by not following its directions in this regard. We have been protesting since last four days in front of the OGDCL head office but the administration has continuously been ignoring us, which persuade us to self-immolation, he added. They, once again, appealed the PM and President to interfere into the issue and assure their reinstatement under the Presidential Ordinance 2009. It is pertinent to mention here these employees had been sacked while working as the trainee management officers during the second regime of the PML-N-led government. The protesters alleged that the managing director had completely ignored the recommendations of the committee constituted for the reinstatement of the sacked employees in 1997. They further said that the management trainees of the SNGPL had been issued appointment letters as permanent employees but they had been issued appointment letters as trainee management officers even after the lapse of 13 years.
