KARACHI (APP) Pakistans top cueists Muhammad Sajjad and Khurram Hussain Agha qualified for the pre-quarterfinal rounds of 35th NJI National Snooker Championship at Karachi Gymkhana Billiards Hall here on Thursday. Former Pakistan number two and seeded sixth Sohail Shehzad shocked top seed Sajjad in fully extended seven frames thriller spiced with break of 55, 70 in the first and fourth frame. Sajjad was enjoying 28 points lead in the final frame but Imran came from behind to record exciting win. Imran finished on the top of group A by three wins out of three and Sajjad securing second spot. Similarly Rambail Gul of NWFP defeated Khurram Agha of Sindh 4-3 in a match of fluctuating fortunes. Imran won 76-52, 22-66, 64-41, 62-60, 47-48, 36-70, 91-06. Sharjeel Mehmood of Haripur ended in group F outing style by thrashing Vishan Gir of Sindh 4-1 to finish on the top with four wins out of four, dropping just one frame in the league rounds. Second seed and Defending Champion Muhammad Asif topped group B while wild-card entry Muhammad Akmal finished runners and both qualified for the knock out rounds. Raees Khan led group C with three wins out of three. Saqib Butt of Punjab seeded eighth ended the event on highly disappointing note losing all his four groups matches while fifth seed Sultan Muhammad of Sindh also failed to qualify for the next stage. The pre-quarterfinal line-up will be decided at the conclusion of league rounds later Thursday night.
