LAHORE - The Pakistan Hockey Federation has shown the doors to veteran of 300 test matches Mohammad Saqlain and say it wants develop him into a coach of repute. The PHF Wednesday announced 31 players for the conditioning camp excluding Saqlain. The conditioning camp for World Cup Qualifiers will start on August 10 and in its first phase it will continue till September 10. The camp which will be held at the National Hockey Stadium will see the trainees reduced in ist second phase that will start after Eid. According to PHF spokesman, Saqlain contribution to the game will be given proper farewell. "He has contributed a lot for Pakistan hockey and the PHF will give a great send off to him," he added. "He will remain part of the PHF as he has good coaching abilities and the PHF will utilise him in the coaching side," he added. But sources close to the player say that he did not want to leave the game as yet and feels that he has still a couple of years left in him. It has also been learnt that Saqlain has also met PHF president Qasim Zia at the hospital where he has been admitted for his stomach aliment. The sources close to Saqlain further said that he is being forced to hang his shoes and come in as coach which the player did not want to turn to and feels that once he took the decision he would not be seen in the field and have to live an isolated life. The announced 31 players are: Salman Akbar, Nasir Ahmad, Imran Butt, Imran Shah, Shakeel Ahmad, Zeeshan Ashraf, Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Imran, Khalid Bhatti, Amir Shahzad, Muhammad Atiq, Muhammad Irfan, Zeeshan Ali, Waseem Ahmad, Fareed Ahmad, Mohsin Bilal, Sajjad Anwar, Muhammad Rashid, Sibtain Raza, Rehan Butt, Waqas Sharif, Shakeel Abbasi, Shafqat Rasool, Abdul Haseem Khan, Abbas Haider, Muhammad Zubair, Akhtar Ali, Tariq Aziz, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Shahbaz and Omer Bhutta.
