ISLAMABAD (AFP) - A Chinese-built fighter jet crashed during a training flight on Wednesday, killing the pilot, the air force said. Pakistan Air Force announces with great regret and grief that an aircraft, while on a routine training mission, crashed south of Attock city, it said in a statement. The pilot of the aircraft, Flight Lieutenant Shahryar Nisar, embraced Shahadat (martyrdom), it said. The air force has ordered an inquiry to determine the cause of the accident, which caused no damage to property on the ground. An air force spokesman told AFP the aircraft was an F-7 jet. Pakistan Air Force has a fleet of Chinese aircraft, including F-7PGs and A-5s, US-built F-16s and French Mirages. It recently acquired medium-tech JF-17 or Thunder jets, manufactured jointly by China and Pakistan.
