Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has announced a compensation of Rs 100 million for the victims of Gojra inter-communal riots, report said. The PM announced the compensation on Thursday during his visit to the riot-affected areas of the city. Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif was also accompanied with the PM who visited the Christian Colony and a local church here. During the visit, Home Secretary Punjab and IG Police of the province also briefed the PM over the security arrangements and post-riot measures carried out by the local authorities to calm down the situation. The PM was quoted as saying in the briefing that Rs 300 million would be needed for the complete rehabilitation of the riot-affectees. He pressed for inter-faith and communal harmony among the masses and asked the authorities to take necessary measures for the purpose.
