LAHORE City Police arrested around 370 pillion riders and also impounded 184 motorbikes on Monday in violation of the ban on pillion riding. According to the spokesman of the City Police, around 178 cases have been lodged against them in six divisions of the Lahore Police. He said that City Division arrested 134 bike riders, who were violating pillion riding ban and lodged 64 cases against them in different police stations besides impounding 67 motorcycles. According to him, the Cantonment Police Division arrested 44 bike riders after registering 22 cases besides impounding 22 motorbikes. Civil Lines Police also arrested 86 pillion riders and impounded 43 bikes and registered 41 cases. Similarly, Saddar Division arrested 22 motorcyclists after impounding 11 motorcycles and registered 10 cases. Likewise, Iqbal Town Police arrested 26 motorcyclists after impounding 13 bikes and registered 13 cases. Likewise, Model Town Police arrested 56 persons after impounding 28 bikes and registered 28 cases as well. Zuljinnah procession route inspected: The Citys operations police chief GM Dogar on Monday visited route of Zuljinnah procession and inspected security arrangements besides ordered directions for beefing up security in the City. GM Dogar visited Pando Street, Khaima-e-Sadaat, Gulshan-e-Zehra, Chuhata Mufti Baqir, Mohalla Shian and route of Zuljinnah processions. He also issued necessary directions for further intensifying security measures. He also visited Thokar Niaz Baig and Dharampura areas and also directed the SP concerned to depute two reserves more at Thokar and some 20 extra personnel for the protection of maajlis and processions in Dharampura area.
