OUR STAFF REPORTER GUJRAT - A poor youth who is suffering from an unusual disease has appealed to the Punjab government to finance his treatment abroad. Despite the disease, the 22-year-old youth of Mohallah Dhakki is running a merchant store to make his both ends meet as his left arm has weighed 13.5 kg. When he was born, Salmans left hand was abnormal which confined him between four walls of his house. Now, his arm has gained the unusual weight and it resembles to the foot of an elephant. Salman told this scribe that his parents consulted a number of doctors of public and private sector hospitals in Lahore and Islamabad besides in Gujrat but in vain. These medical practitioners avoided operating his arm due to complications and always referred to a foreign hospital, he said, adding that they could not afford expenses for treatment abroad. He said that his disease had retarded his life because he abandoned his matriculation due to abnormal growth of the arm despite passion for getting education. He said that Rs 1.2 million was required for the treatment which he could not afford.
