Our Staff Reporter KHANEWAL - District Police officer (DPO) Waqar Abbasi has said that elaborated security measures have been put in place for Ashura processions and he himself has been monitor all the security arrangements in the district. The district police have made foolproof arrangements and three-layered security has been provided to processions, Majalis and other Muharram congregations. Talking to TheNation DPO Waqar Abbasi explained that walk-through-gates, metal detector and body search had been declared mandatory for any participant of Majlis and procession, adding that zero tolerance would be shown for any slackness and negligence in the implementation of security plan. Any official found to have committed negligence will be dealt with sternly, he warned and added that 1,500 police personnel, 1,027 PQR, and 144 volunteers male and female would be deployed on the routes of Ashura processions in the district. He enumerated that on Ashura, a total od 82 processions of Aalam and Zuljinnah would be taken out throughout the district, and 56 Majalis would be held. DPO Waqar Abbasi also detailed that there would be seven processions of A category, and 5 Majalis of A category, and special attention was being focused on the security of procession and Majlis falling in A category. The DPO appealed to the masses, especially Ulema and religious scholars from all schools of thought to forge harmony and extend cooperation to the police to maintain law and order in the district. Youm-e-Ashura today: Youm-e-Ashura will be observed Yuesday (today) and Markazi Taazia procession will start from main Imambargah under the leadership of Advocate Syed Murad Ali Shah Bukhari. It will reach Jhang Road where at 1:00pm Zuhrain prayers will be led by Maulana Zahoor Hussain. Majlis Aza will be held in Saddar Bazaar Chowk. at 3:00 pm where Allama Baqir Ali Naqvi and Ghulam Abbas Shahbaz will adrress the mourners. It will conclude back at starting place at 7:00pm where Sham-e-Ghariban will be held at night.
