NEW DELHI (Agencies) - West Indies produced a superb bowling display to bowl out India for 244 and won the third match by 16 runs to keep their chances alive in the five-match series at the Sardar Patel Stadium at Motera in Ahmedabad on Monday. Abhimanyu Mithun played a cameo in the end after Rohit Sharma's dismissal but it was not enough to prevent West Indies from registering the first victory of the tour. India's last hope Rohit Sharma, who stood tall between West Indies and their victory, got run-out by the direct hit from skipper Darren Sammy. Rohit reached to his fifty in 64 balls and held one hand while wickets were falling on the other hand. India's misery continued when Ravindra Jadeja got run-out by Andre Russell. India were reduced to 105/6 in 20.5 overs. Rampaul struck again when he dismissed Suresh Raina for 2 runs and picked up his third wicket of the innings. Local boy Parthiv Patel showed lot of character before went back to the pavilion as he made quick-fire 39 runs off 35 balls with the help of seven boundaries. India reached their fifty in 10.5 overs with a lovely six from Rohit Sharma over extra cover who also got off to his mark with the shot. West Indies pacer Ravi Rampaul gave India double blow as he removed Sehwag, Gambhir with his first two deliveries of the match. Sehwag's poor run continues in the series as he went for duck while Gambhir followed his captain after being caught plumb in front of the wicket on the very next ball. Rampaul, who set the record to make highest individual score by number 10 batsmen in the previous match, shone again but this time with the ball to leave the hosts tottering at 8/2 in 1.2 overs. Earlier, West Indies skipper Darren Sammy and Andre Russell plundered 79 runs off the last 34 balls to help the West Indies post 260/5. Sammy smashed two sixes and five fours in his 17-ball 41 not out while Russell cracked two sixes and four boundaries in his unbeaten 40 off 18 balls as the tourists set a challenging target for India in the day-night match. The West Indies skipper's sixes came in the penultimate over off seamer Abhimanyu Mithun before Russell hit paceman Umesh Yadav for two fours and a six in the last over. The West Indies scored 93 runs in the last seven overs after being put in to bat, thanks to Sammy and Russell. Marlon Samuels (58) earlier steadied the innings with his 22nd half-century in one-dayers after the West Indies lost openers Lendl Simmons (one) and Danza Hyatt (20) on 42 runs. Samuels added 55 runs for the third wicket with Darren Bravo (26), who retired due to a hamstring injury. His best came in the 19th over when he hammered Yadav for a six over long-on and two fours. Denesh Ramdin (38) and Kieron Pollard (29) then put on 55 for the fourth wicket before both fell in the space of four runs. Pollard fell to a superb catch by Ravindra Jadeja, who ran in from long-off to hold the ball at deep extra cover. India made one change from the side that won the second one-dayer by five wickets.
