KARACHI  - Owing to the efforts being made by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, there has been a headway towards the establishment of the province’s first DNA lab in Karachi.

A statement here said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Turkish organization was signed at the Governor House on Tuesday evening.

Ebad said on the occasion that the province very much needed such a facility and today’s ceremony would prove to be a milestone in this regard.

He stated that after the Baldia Town factory fire incident, the need for such a facility was badly felt.

The governor pointed out that e-policing and a system based on modern technology has been introduced in the province and the DNA lab would be an important part of such a system.

The Turkish organisation would assist the Dow University of Medical and Health Science towards the establishment of the DNA lab. He directed the officials concerned to work on priority basis in this regard.

The Vice-Chancellor of Dow University, Prof Masood Hameed, and representative of the Turkish organization- Forensic People of Turkey, were also present on the occasion.
