PESHAWAR - Activists of Pakhtun Students Federation (PkSF) on Wednesday staged a protest against the proposed construction on Kalabagh Dam, and termed it a plot against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The protesting student activists hailing from Government College of Technology, Kohat Road, were holding placards and banner inscribed with slogans against the recently given verdict by Lahore High Court, gathered here at main Sher Shah Suri road outside press club.

They were also chanted full-throated slogans against the construction of Kalabagh Dam.

Addressing the protesters, PkSF district chapter General Secretary Anwar Safi alleged that construction of the controversial Kalabagh Dam was a conspiracy of Punjab government against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

He called for shelving of the plan and asked the government to build the already announced Bhasha dame and scores of other small dams across the province, as construction of KDB would lead to a serious confrontation among the provinces, he added.

The student leaders further said that the apex judiciary should not indulge itself in such controversial issue, as it is a matter related to the people of three provinces of the country, adding this like verdict without the consent of the people of the affected people. They also vowed not to let the construction of disputed dam at any cost, as it is the question of the lives of the masses of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
