LAHORE - PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that Muslim League-N was a national party and its presence in all the four provinces was a guarantee to the solidarity of the country.

Presiding over a consultative meeting of PML-N Sindh in Lahore, he said, “had the distribution of lakhs of acres of state land among landless Haris of Sindh and the efforts for restoration of peace in Karachi not been sabotaged through Musharraf dictatorship there would have been prosperity in the rural life of Sindh and Karachi would have became a safe city”.

Nawaz Sharif said that PML-N played its role to ensure the completion of the tenure of the parliament in respect to the mandate to the people but Asif Zardari tried to paralyse the provincial assembly of Punjab even before the first year of general elections was over.

“Had Zardari’s attempts not been checked he would have taken several steps which would have weakened democracy in the country”, added Sharif.

He said that he was pained at the pathetic conditions of the Sindhi people whose problems have increased. He said that the affectees of rain and floods were still shelterless while the people of Karachi were also scared and worried.

Sharif said that it was a collective responsibility to accelerate our efforts to provide such an environment to the people of Sindh as well as other provinces
