ISLAMABAD – Press Council of Pakistan (PPC) has lamented the delay in arrest of killers of senior journalist and special correspondent of TheNation Raja Asad, who was killed in Rawalpindi three years ago.

  Taking note of City Police Officer’s (CPO) letter explaining the details of investigation on the query of PCP, the council regretted the delay and asked the concerned quarters to provide prompt justice to the bereaved family. The PCP has asked the bereaved family to give evidence if they have any to take lead in this regard.

In another letter with reference to suo moto notice taken by PCP Chairman on unwarranted entry of police officials in press club Rawalpindi and arrest of Yasir Mirza, the CPO stated the police officials only entered press club Rawalpindi premises to arrest Yasir Mirza against whom a case was registered at Police Station Banni. The CPO further stated that concerned ASI was suspended and an inquiry was still under way.
