ISLAMABAD: The opposition parties have prepared a strategy to take the government head on over its introduction of mini budget envisaging Rs 40 billion new taxes at the National Assembly which begins its new session on Monday afternoon.

Parliamentary sources said that the PPP and PTI have formulated a joint strategy to confront the government which they said is claiming of achievements in economic sector.

The two parties have decided to register their strong protest during the session for bringing in a mini budget.  The sources added that the opposition believe that the government was making hollow claims about improvement in economy as it was meeting its expenditure by obtaining loans from IMF and other international institutions with tough conditions.

The sources added that PTI member Asad Umar is expected to bring an amending bill in the house to amend the Islamabad Local government Act in order to give greater powers to the Chairman
