ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the present government has promoted the politics of reconciliation and tolerance.

He said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) believes in democracy and genuinely feels that democracy, and only democracy is the destination of the country. The Prime Minister said this while talking to Amir Yar Waran, Ex-MNA who called on him at PM's House Tuesday morning.

He added that a lot has been done to improve the living standard of the people committed in the manifesto of PPP. He said that despite tough challenges and the impacts of global economic recession, government endeavoured to deliver and help the poor. "We inherited an economy in a shambles, militancy and extremism on rise and the state facing the gravest danger to its existence," said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said that despite economic crunch, the present government did not compromise on executing developmental schemes across the country.

"Our government has provided financial assistance and targeted subsidies through Benazir Income Support Programme to the poor, without any discrimination," emphasised the Prime Minister.

Amir Yar Waran thanked the Prime Minister for allocating funds for his area. He said that people from his constituency appreciate the good work done by the present government.
