LAHORE : The people are forced to bear longer duration of power outages as the demand-supply gap of electricity shoots up to 3,000MW across the country. According to National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC), the urban areas of the country are facing six to eight hours of loadshedding while its duration for the rural areas has hit 10-12 hours. The total power generation of the country currently stands at 14,700 MW against the demand of 17,700, leading to a shortfall of 3,000MW.

The private power houses are presently contributing 7150 MW electricity to the national grid while the thermal sources are producing 1920MW and hydel 5630 MW power.
