JI Karachi leadership including its chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, General Secretary Abdul Wahab, naib ameers Muslim Pervez and Muzaffar Hashmi, information secretary Zahid Askari, deputy secretary Engineer Sabir Ahmed and others were also present on the occasion. Hafiz Naeem welcomed the MQM delegation on its arrival at Idara-e-Noor Haq but showed reservation in joining the rally. Talking to media, he made it clear that the party leadership has a clear stance over the army operation that the use of power was not a solution of any problem.–Staff Reporter

The history is evident that the army operations made the things complicated.

Citing the example of army operations, he said the consequences of army operations in East Pakistan, Karachi, Balochistan, Swat, Malakand and its adjacent were in front of the nation as those operations were not proved result-oriented. He said these operations created differences between the civilians and the army. “We think that the army operation ‘Zarb-e-Azab’ in North Waziristan should be stopped immediately as innocent people are being killed in the operation,” he added.

Hafiz Naeem further said the issues should be resolved through dialogue and not by using power. The root cause of terrorism should be identified before taking any step against anyone.

MQM coordination committee member Ameenul Haq said: “We have old relations with Jamaat-i-Islami and we are here to invite them to our rally. We hope the JI will also visit our headquarters as it will improve relations.”
