WASHINGTON - Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, a prominent Kashmiri activist, has expressed his condolences on the passing away of Justice Mufti Baha-ud-Din Farooqi, a former chief justice of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, who breathed his last on Saturday in Srinagar, saying that the jurist had rendered great services in promoting cause of Kashmir.

In a statement, Fai said as a judge, Farooqi upheld human rights, human dignity and judicial fairness. "His advocacy of the cause of Kashmir in the corridors of power during his visit to Washington has had a lasting impact on the policy makers, where he made a compelling case against India’s stand on Kashmir," he said.

"May Allah place his soul in Janatul Firdous and may He give Sabr to the family! Ameen," the statement said.
