LAHORE - A 50-year-old man, father of five, committed suicide owing to financial problems, hanging himself with a ceiling pole fixed inside the mosque where he was sitting for Aitkaf in Gujjarpura police limits in the wee hours of Sunday. Police concerned said the deceased Taj Muhammad, 50, resident of Hajipura, was facing severe financial crisis due to his unemployment since last several months and he was not able to meet the needs of his family properly. He was desperate due to financial issues and tried hard for getting proper job but failed, a neighbour, requesting anonymity, said. He said he was unable to fulfill the demands of his family that is why Taj Muhammad might decide to sit in the mosque for Aitkaf. However, during Aitkaf his family again asked him about households over which he got dejected. The victim hanged himself with a pole fixed inside the mosque, police said. Reportedly, other people of the areas who were also observing Aitkaf informed the mosque administration, which informed police about the incident. Later, a police team reached the scene and removed the body from the pole and handed it over to the bereaved family after formal legalities. Girl electrocuted A 12-year-old girl electrocuted in Baghbanpura police limits on Sunday. The victim identified as Nida, daughter of Ijaz, resident of Shahdara. She was washing clothes on rooftop of her maternal grand mothers home when she accidentally received severe electric shock as she touched the electric wire. Her family members rushed her to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. Police handed over the body to her family without autopsy.
