KARACHI - Newly-elected vice president of Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Rana Mujahid believed that his election would be helpful in inviting foreign teams to Pakistan.

"I will have more liaison with other federations and their officials and that would benefit Pakistan," he told APP on his return from Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

He said he would be having regular contacts with China, India, Korea, Malaysia in attracting them to play with Pakistan on exchange programme. He said Prince Abdullah of Malaysia was elected as the president of the continental body and India also got vice president position. International Hockey Federation (FIH) president Leandro Negre also attended AHF congress and elections.

Rana said that his victory in the unanimous election was success of Pakistan hockey which would pay dividends in future. "It's a great honor for him and for Pakistan to be elected in 27-nation body," beaming Rana, who is also Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary, said.

He said it was a dream to bring international hockey back to Pakistan and work hard for achieving this objective. Rana said hockey could be revived in Pakistan by attracting foreign teams and improve domestic hockey. He said despite problems, he remained optimistic about future of national hockey.
